We sing. We pray. We testify with our mouths. But what truly convinces the world of the power of God is not the beautiful noise we make on a Sunday morning; it’s the quiet, consistent sound of a life being transformed.
The title of this post is a call to action: Show Them.
In a world saturated with information, arguments, and loud opinions, people aren’t just looking for another debate about faith. They are looking for evidence. They are looking for proof that the God we sing about—the healer, the provider, the Mighty One—is actively working in the here and now.
More Than Words: The Weight of Witness
Think about it: how many times have you heard someone say, “They claim to be a Christian, but…”? Unfortunately, the greatest barrier to belief for many people isn’t intellectual doubt; it’s the hypocrisy they see. Our words, no matter how eloquent, are only as strong as the lives we live.
James 2:18 (NIV) famously puts it this way: “But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without your deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”
Our faith isn’t a secret code or a private club; it’s a dynamic force that should manifest in the real world. This isn’t about being perfect—that’s a standard only Jesus could meet. It’s about being authentic and intentional. It’s about letting the gospel that saved your soul influence your everyday choices.
Practical Ways to “Show Them”
So, what does this look like on a Monday morning when the inspiration from church has faded?
1. Show Them Grace in the Grind
The person who cuts you off in traffic, the demanding boss, the difficult relative—these are your audience. The world expects anger, retaliation, and bitterness. Show Them the surprising peace and patience that comes from knowing Christ. Your controlled reaction in a frustrating moment is a louder testimony than any evangelistic tract.
2. Show Them Integrity Where It’s Hidden
Are you the same person behind the closed office door as you are in front of the congregation? Integrity means living by God’s standards even when no one is watching. It means telling the truth on your tax form, refusing to gossip, and working with excellence. Your hidden honesty is a powerful reflection of a God who sees everything.
3. Show Them Compassion in Crisis
When tragedy strikes a neighbor, or when a co-worker is struggling, the world often turns inward. Show Them the selfless love of God. Offer a meal, a listening ear, or a helping hand without demanding credit or expecting a conversion. Acts of unconditional kindness testify to the boundless love you’ve received from the Father.
Your Life, God’s Platform
Your life is not your own—it is a stage for God’s glory. When you live a life rooted in Christ, your actions don’t just support your words; they become the translation of your faith into a language the world can understand.
Don’t just tell people about Jesus. Show Them what He looks like when He lives inside a transformed heart.
It’s time to step out and let your light shine so brightly that others are drawn not to you, but to the source of that glorious light.
